CHAMUNDI THEYYAM DANGLER
CHAMUNDI THEYYAM DANGLER
The Theyyam collection draws inspiration from the ritualistic art form of North Kerala. The colourful masks and imaginative costumes of this dance form the background of this eclectic collection. Each piece of jewellery is one-of-a-kind, and the attempt has been to capture the intensity and energy of the art form. Hand-painted and crafted by artists on layered wood. Embellished with gold-finished brass and silver-foil crystals. Strung together with glass beads from the traditional community of Patwas, this jewellery exemplifies the designer’s idea of giving the art of India a whole new destination—on the person of a woman.
"The 'Chamundi Theyyam earrings, representing the fierce aspect of the goddess who slayed Mahishasura is hand painted and carries within it the spirit and magic of Theyyam. When you wear a piece, you're not just wearing jewellery, you're carrying the blessings and a fragment of divine heritage of Kerala's sacred performing arts tradition.
