Gaj Manjiri Gond Art Earrings
Gaj Manjiri Gond Art Earrings
THE GOND LEGEND
The Gond folklore goes like this. A mighty elephant flew down to Earth to drink water from a lake. A crocodile chanced upon him, astonished to see him. He fought with the elephant, until the Lord finally took pity on his plight. The Lord tried to pull it out by the nose, but the nose got longer, then he tried with the ears and the ears became broader. Finally he cut off his battered wings, saying that elephants should no longer fly. That is how this mighty creature became an earthling.
