Gajwani Gond Art Earrings
Gajwani Gond Art Earrings
THE GOND LEGEND
The Gond folklore goes like this. A mighty elephant flew down to Earth to drink water from a lake. A crocodile chanced upon him, astonished to see him. He fought with the elephant, until the Lord finally took pity on his plight. The Lord tried to pull it out by the nose, but the nose got longer, then he tried with the ears and the ears became broader. Finally he cut off his battered wings, saying that elephants should no longer fly. That is how this mighty creature became an earthling.
THE JEWELLERY
Hanging from a beautiful cloud, the Gajwani Earrings is designed with a gorgeous protruding elephant trunk with a gentle curve. The essence of the forest is etched in the delicate gold-plated leaf pattern in the middle. The lovely piece is finished off with a gorgeous combination of green and yellow Mahua pod form and the traditional signature Gond pattern.
All pieces are crafted in India and hand painted by artists in our studio in Mumbai, under small batch production.
