THE GOND LEGEND

Gond folklore tells of celestial elephants traversing the heavens and Earth at will. In one tale, a winged elephant descended upon a village, causing chaos. Desperate villagers appealed to their deity for help. Heeding their call, the Lord intervened, severing the elephant's wings as it slumbered. Thus the once flying giant became earthbound. This ancient Gondwani tribal story reminds us that even the mightiest creatures were once capable of extraordinary feats, suggesting a time when elephants ruled not just the land, but also the skies above.
