Tithi Cherai Gond Art Necklace
Tithi Cherai Gond Art Necklace
THE GOND LEGEND
Gond folklore tells of the 'Tithi Cherai', a remarkable little bird with an extraordinary resting habit. Unlike other birds, she would sleep on her back with her feet pointed skyward. The elders say she did this out of fear that the heavens might fall, threatening her eggs. By keeping her feet raised, she stood ready to protect her offspring. This small bird's devotion symbolises a mother's limitless love. Her tale, passed through generations, reminds the Gond of the strength in small creatures and the power of maternal instinct.
THE JEWELLERY
The Tithi Cherai myth has inspired many artists for generations. But, for the first time it takes flight in an entirely unique way, transforming into wearable art that connects you with the cultural tapestry of the Gond tribe. Hand-painted with signature Gond patterns, the bird's delicate form and posture embodies eternal vigilance. Nestled beneath the watchful mother are three tiny eggs with suspended glass beads that complete the narrative. Each time you clasp this necklace around your neck. You are not just adorning a beautiful piece of jewellery. You're becoming a storyteller, a guardian of an ancient narrative.
All pieces are crafted in India and hand painted by artists in our studio in Mumbai, under small batch production.
